Project time about 4 months

What was the plan?
This family renovated the whole house, they wanted to convert the garage into an office and build another room on top of it, extend the kitchen to an open plan kitchen sitting room with a fireplace in the middle, build a utility room and add a bathroom downstairs.
The prep work
After the client got planning permission and the scaffolding was fitted around the house, we started demolition work in August 2019 with 4 people, i.e. removing the concrete slab from the garage roof, preparation of blockwork, removing sections of the roof and rebuilding the roof for the new extension including tiles, fascias, soffits and gutters.
About 4 weeks later our carpenter fitted all the partition and stud-work, prepared floors and did all the preparation work for the electrician and plumber.
ready for electrician & plumber
The electrician and plumber then came in doing their first fix work, i.e. laying cables and pipes before plastering. They were in for about a week.
Windows, doors & plastering
This was followed by the window company coming in to measure windows and doors.
We then fitted plasterboards and skimmed all walls and ceilings, and dashed the outside.
In the meantime windows and doors were fitted.
ready for tiler & fittings
The tiler then tiled the bathrooms and kitchen floors and the carpenter fitted doors, skirting and wooden floors. The plumber and electrician came back to do the second part of their job, i.e. fitting the boiler and lights.
move back in for christmas
The client organised the kitchen company and a painter, who both came in then to do their work. Afterwards, the client was able to move back into their new home just before Christmas 2019.
